02 27.2023

On February 25, 2023, the Conference of Top 10 Academic Progress in Traditional Chinese Medicine of Year 2022 was held in Beijing, which was sponsored by the China Association of Chinese Medicine. The research finding “Revealing the Scientific Connotation of Activating Blood Circulation Herbs Protecting Cardiac Muscle Through Syncretic Single-Cell Omics Technology”, which is from the team of Xiaohui Fan and Yi Wang from the Future Health Laboratory, was listed as one of academic progress in new technology assisting in interpreting efficacy of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) such as single-cell Proteomics and so on.

The team of Xiaohui Fan and Yi Wang from the Future Health Laboratory, together with Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, developed a series of new single-cell analytical tools, which are targeted at analyzing bottlenecks on scientific principle of TCM in treating disease. The study found that immune cell has dynamic regulation effect on damage repair after myocardial infarction. Taking TCM such as Rhodiola rosea L. and Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge as objects, the study also elucidated deeply the molecular mechanism how Tanshinon IIA regulates immune cell subsets to narrow the range of myocardial infarction. It also clarified the mechanism of herbacetin in Rhodiola rosea L. inhibiting SGK1 to resist cardiac hypertrophy. Correlational researches provide new technologies and examples for expounding clearly the intension of effectiveness of TCM. Related papers were published in 2022 on Nature Communications, Advanced Science, Small Methods and China Journal of Chinese Materia Medica, and 4 of them were selected as cover or Editors’ Highlights. Three patents were authorized as well.
