Ecological civilization construction is an important component of the socialist ideology with Chinese characteristics in the new era, and it is closely related to the millennium-long plan for the sustainable development of the Chinese nation. The Future Environment Laboratory aims to be guided by the national concept of ecological civilization and the dual-carbon goal, and oriented towards circularity, intelligent governance, and health. It focuses on key core technical issues in the field of ecological environment in China, specifically the coordinated governance of multiple pollutant emissions across different media. It takes the lead in establishing two major research directions: advanced environmental materials and intelligent environmental equipments, to support the leapfrog development of the ecological environment industry and the implementation of the concept of a Beautiful China.
